Shopify design & development

Your storefront should be the fastest thing you own.

I design and build Shopify stores on a theme I wrote myself — so pages load quickly, the code is mine to fix, and nothing depends on an app you forgot you were paying for.

  • Own theme, not a licence
  • Fixed price in writing
  • You talk to me, not an account manager

WHAT I DO

Three ways people usually hire me.

New store, built properly

A full storefront on my theme: home, collection, product, cart, and the quiet pages nobody plans for. Set up so your team can edit it without calling me.

FROM FOUR WEEKS

Rebuilds and rescues

You have traffic and a site that fights it. I go through the templates, cut what is slowing you down, and rebuild the pages that carry the revenue.

TWO TO FIVE WEEKS

Theme work for agencies

You own the client and the design. I write the Liquid, the sections, and the settings, and stay in your Slack until it ships.

BY SPRINT OR RETAINER

The theme is mine, so the fixes are too.

No borrowed theme

The theme is my own code. When something needs to change, I change it that day instead of waiting on a vendor update.

Fewer apps

Each app is a script on every page. I replace the ones I can with theme sections, and your monthly bill drops with the load time.

Editable by your team

Sections carry plain settings, not forty toggles. Whoever runs your marketing can move a block without breaking a page.

Some of what I've built

Every project is designed around the goals of the business behind it. Here are a few recent projects that showcase my approach to strategy, design, and development.

BUILT BY ELLIE

Every section you see here is one you can have on your own store. None of it's a one-off.

Tell me what's broken,
or what you want built.

Twenty minutes on a call, no deck. If I'm not the right fit I'll say so and point you somewhere better.

We needed a developer who could work inside our process, not around it. Ellie was in our Slack every day until launch.

Northline Agency · Theme build

Our old theme had six apps doing things the code should handle. She cut that to one and the site finally feels fast.

FAQ

Hiring a Shopify developer: the usual questions

If yours isn't here, ask me on the call. I'd rather answer it early than have it turn up halfway through a build.

How much does a custom Shopify website cost?

A first store on a fixed scope runs roughly $4k to $7k. A rebuild for a shop already taking orders is usually $9k to $18k, because the work is heavier and the risk of getting it wrong is real. Agency sprints start around $3k. You get the exact figure in writing after the call, and it does not move unless you ask for something new.

How long does it take to build a Shopify store?

Four to seven weeks for a full build with a normal catalogue. Rebuilds land between two and five. The code is rarely what holds things up — it is photography, product copy, and shipping decisions, so I tell you in week one exactly what I need from you and when.

Do I need to buy a theme, or do you build from scratch?

I work on my own theme — written from scratch, not purchased from a marketplace. That means faster pages, cleaner code, and no dependency on a third-party developer you cannot reach.

What does it cost?

Every project is scoped individually. A new store build typically starts around a fixed project fee, with optional monthly maintenance. I will send a detailed proposal after our first call — no surprises.

Can you migrate my store from another platform?

Yes. I have migrated stores from WooCommerce, Squarespace, Wix, and custom setups. Product data, redirects, and SEO basics are handled as part of the migration plan.

What happens after launch?

I offer ongoing maintenance — updates, small changes, performance checks, and priority support. You will never be left with a store you cannot edit or a developer who has gone quiet.
